Gibraltar welcomed Seabourn Ovation in her inaugural call, recently joined the International Association for Ports and Harbours and refreshed its Port Handbook

The 40,350 ton, 604 passenger cruise ship Seabourn Ovation made its inaugural visit to Gibraltar on Monday 21st May. Like sister ship Seabourn Encore, which made its inaugural call to Gibraltar on 11th Aug 2017, it is an encore-class cruise ship built by Fincantieri and is 26% larger than the older Seabourn ships. The Orderbook page at Cybercruises.com has been updated with the today announcements of the new order by Ponant (for two more expedition vessels at Fincantieri Vard) and by Viking concerning a new agreement with Fincantieri that could see the delivery of six additional ocean ships by 2027. Further are listed the two riverboats for Riviera Travel with delivery in 2019. Finally have been added the images of MSC Grandiosa, NCL Bliss at Meyer Werft and of Costa Venezia. Just-released emissions inventory report finds significant decrease in Port of Vancouver air pollutant emissions since 2010

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has released its third Port Emissions Inventory Report, which indicates air pollutant emissions have decreased significantly since 2010, despite an increase in trade through the port – a result of stronger regulation and investment in technology. (more…)

Captain Greybeard  blog for the MirrorMirror Travel’s renowned cruise columnist Captain Greybeard has died in a hospital in Hampshire after a short illness. He was 69. ‘Greybeard’ was the pseudonym of John Honeywell, the former Deputy Managing Editor of Mirror Group Newspapers, who left in 2009 after a distinguished Fleet Street career to concentrate on writing about holidays at sea on a full-time basis.
