U.S. congressman pushing for cruise ships to permanently bypass British Columbia

Young, a Republican serving his 25th term in the U.S. House of Representatives, is pushing for a law that would allow ports or land owned by Tribes or Alaska Native Corporations to satisfy the Passenger Vessel Services Act’s foreign stop requirement. The polluting end of tourism: Environmentalist pushes for cruise ship ban in Vancouver harbour

Vancouver: Delta cruise ship terminal already identified?

The impacts of a potential cruise ship terminal at Roberts Bank has to be examined together with the proposed Terminal 2 container terminal expansion. That’s what Against Port Expansion’s (APE) Roger Emsley is demanding as the Port of Vancouver considers the possibility of adding another cruise ship facility in either Delta or Richmond. Just-released emissions inventory report finds significant decrease in Port of Vancouver air pollutant emissions since 2010

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has released its third Port Emissions Inventory Report, which indicates air pollutant emissions have decreased significantly since 2010, despite an increase in trade through the port – a result of stronger regulation and investment in technology. (more…)
