A Venezuelan Coast Guard patrol boat capsized and sank following a collision with a Portuguese-flagged cruise ship in international waters in the early morning hours (local time) of Monday, March 30. The Russian Government has commandeered two One Ocean Expeditions ships just four weeks before their departure dates, meaning the line’s cruise season has been heavily disrupted. The ice-strengthened ship Akademik Sergey Vavilov was due to commence its Arctic season in June in Spitsbergen while sister ship, Akademik Ioffe, was due to start in the Canadian Arctic in late July.
