Minister of Tourism David Collado announced that Marella Cruises has selected the Dominican Republic as its home port in La Romana, with weekly visits planned during the winter season. 
With an investment that reached one million dollars, the company Carnival Cruise Corporation inaugurated this Friday in Puerto Plata some 1,800 solar panels with the capacity to produce one-megawatt alternator of electric energy. 


The Mediterranean Shipping Company’s (MSC) “MSC Meraviglia” cruise ship made its first-ever visit to the Puerto Plata province, carrying 4,934 passengers.
The director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodríguez, informed this Wednesday that some 801, 878 cruise passengers have arrived in the Dominican Republic, through the country’s different ports, compared to 337, 715 who visited the country in 2021.
Carnival Spirit’s crew rescued 24 people stranded on a small boat in the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday. 
A cruise ship suspended its visit to the Taino Bay port, in Puerto Plata, this Sunday.
Hundreds gathered in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with one common goal: improve cruise tourism, especially the mutual benefits between destinations and cruise companies.
