Oceanwide Expeditions reaches Snow Hill emperor penguin colony

Yesterday Oceanwide Expeditions (Nov. 22) reached the remote emperor penguin colony on Snow Hill Island for the second year running. Using the helicopters staged aboard its vessel Ortelius, Oceanwide flew passengers to this rarely visited Antarctic location, then led small hiking groups toward the site – one of the largest breeding colonies of the world’s most iconic penguin species. Oceanwide Shows Off New Renderings for Hondius

Hondius: the new standard in polar exploration

The new Hondius from Oceanwide Expeditions is launching in time for the summer 2019 Arctic season, according to the cruise company. The 196-guest ship is being built by Croatia’s Brodosplit shipyard. Oceanwide, a Holland-based expedition cruise company, recently showed off the first official interior renderings of the 6,300-ton ship. (cruiseindustrynews.com)

The new 196-passenger polar class expedition vessel  Hondius (Artist impression)Oceanwide Expeditions will take delivery of the new 196-passenger Hondius on May 2, 2019, according to the company. The new expedition ship is being built at Croatia’s Brodosplit shipyard and will carry Polar Class 6 designation, making it suitable for extreme operations in the Arctic and Antarctica.
