TUI Group’s Trio of Cruise Brands Post Strong Earnings Performance

Reporting full year earnings, TUI Group saw revenue increase across its three cruise brands by 10.7 percent to 901.9 million euro for the 2018 fiscal year. Turnover was reported at 324 million euro, up 26.8 percent over the year prior. It was a strong year for TUI Cruises, Marella Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises with the company noting that investments in growing and modernizing its fleet were paying off. Hapag-Lloyd Orders Third Hanseatic Expedition Ship

Coming off a strong first-half performance in 2018, TUI Group said its board had approved a third Hanseatic-class newbuild for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The 230-guest ship will join the Hapag-Lloyd fleet from VARD in 2021, following the Hanseatic Nature and Inspiration, which will be delivered next year. (cruiseindustrynews.com)

TUI Group has undertaken a number of green initiatives for its trio of cruise brands, which are targeted at three distinct markets. TUI Cruises sails a fleet of modern, large cruise ships for the German market; while Hapag-Lloyd Cruises offers a luxury and expedition experience on smaller ships; and Marella Cruises has more classic tonnage aimed at the British passenger. Europa and Europa 2 Set for Blohm + Voss Refits

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' Europa 2  (Photo Christophe Dedieu at  Vesseltracker.com)Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will drydock both its ultra-luxury ships, with the Europa and Europa 2 scheduled for drydocking periods at Blohm + Voss.
