Saga, and the world-leading ship building team at Meyer Werft, Germany, have today (Monday 27th May) completed the conveyance of Spirit of Discovery, from the Papenburg shipyard along the River Ems to the open sea. 
The biggest European shipbuilders have announced a new cooperative initiative to develop and demonstrate a connected vessel platform. This project is named Code Kilo.
A steel cutting ceremony has been held for Spirit of Adventure, Saga Cruises’ second bespoke-built boutique ship. This follows the first new build ship, Spirit of Discovery, which will be launching in July this year. 

Royal Caribbean Cruises and Silversea Cruises today announced agreements to build three new ships for Silversea Cruises, the ultra-luxury and expedition cruise brand that recently joined the RCL family. 
Cruise company AIDA Cruises has named its latest ship AIDAnova on Friday evening. The spectacular naming ceremony took place at the completely sold-out AIDA Open Air at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, attended by 25,000 spectators.
For the first time in the history of the cruise company AIDA Cruises, a whole family will christen the newest ship AIDAnova. Family Mirza from Hanau in Hesse was selected from hundreds of applicants by a jury.
Saga Cruises took a momentous step forward in its history today (June 28, 2018) with the keel-laying of the company’s first new cruise ship, Spirit of Discovery. The keel-laying ceremony at Meyer Werft’s shipyard in Papenburg marked the official start of construction for the 999-guest vessel, the first of two cruise ships being built for Saga Cruises.
The youngest member of the AIDA fleet will start sailing the seven seas from December 2018. AIDAnova is now being given her smile at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg. The exterior painting of smiling lips, eye, eyelid and a wave is applied to all AIDA ships based on an idea from the Rostock artist, Feliks Büttner. 

Before AIDAnova sets off on its first voyage toward the North Sea, AIDA Cruises is inviting to one of the biggest events in Northern Germany on August 31, 2018, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg.
Construction work has begun in Papenburg on the first new ship for the British shipping company, Saga Cruises. Today (Feb 28), Meyer Werft started its steel-cutting process for the “Spirit of Discovery”, the first ship to be delivered in summer 2019. 
The second and last engine room module for the AIDAnova, which has been constructed at the Neptun shipyard in Rostock Warnemunde, will be towed to the Meyer Shipyard in Papenburg, starting Dec. 2. (cruiseindustrynews.com)
