As the Port of Galveston’s cruise industry grows, so does its local and state economic impact. According to a national report, Galveston’s cruise business grew by 13 percent in 2018, resulting in $1.5 billion in cruise industry direct expenditures and 26,241 jobs with total wages of $1.75 billion in Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas – including Carnival Cruise Line – which announced today that it will have four ships homeported in Galveston, year-round, beginning in 2021.
The Port of Galveston is excited to announce that Carnival Cruise Lines Carnival Dream, set sail on its first voyage from its new homeport on May 13, expanding capacity on its short cruise offerings from Galveston.
Royal Caribbean International’s Enchantment of the Seas began its home port seasonal sailing itinerary from the Port of Galveston with a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise on Monday, May 6. 


The Port of Galveston announced on Wednesday that it achieved a new milestone in December 2017, embarking 113,488 passengers, surpassing previous passenger volumes and setting a record as the busiest month since the port began its cruise business on September 30, 2000.
