Saga Travel’s 2023 river cruise schedule launched with a tranche of new and included benefits

Smoother sailing: Saga cruise bookings back to pre-Covid levels

Spirit of Discovery  (Credit Zoe Ayton - Portland Harbour Authority)The group – which caters to over-50s – said its current booked cruise load factors were at 70 per cent for 2021/22, following legal restrictions on capacity for early cruises. It posted tour operations bookings for 2021/22 of £18m and £109m for 2022/23 but said there was still some uncertainty within the travel sector about the long-term Covid impact. (cityam.com)

Cruise line says only vaccinated passengers can sail

Spirit of Discovery  (Credit Zoe Ayton - Portland Harbour Authority Portland Harbour Authority)Given all the problems faced by the cruise industry in 2020, the announcement by one operator that all passengers must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 before they board sounds sensible. But when Saga Cruises this week became the first to introduce the requirement, not everyone agreed — the British operator was inundated with so many responses, good and bad, it temporarily made its Twitter account private while it dealt with them. Saga sees surge in interest in ‘once in a lifetime’ holidays as vaccine sparks sense of adventure in people over 50

Saga (Logo)Saga has experienced a spike in interest from customers looking for once in a lifetime adventures. In the week following the news of successful trials of the vaccine, there was a 78% increase in traffic to Saga’s Traveller’s World website pages and a 36% increase for the Traveller’s World online brochures compared to the week beforehand. UK: Saga marks Remembrance Day with cruise ship light display

Two Saga cruise ships showed their respect on Remembrance Day by lighting up in tribute. To commemorate Remembrance Day, Saga’s two cruise ships and spirit sisters, Spirit of Adventure and Spirit of Discovery, lit up the docks in Tilbury, Essex with a light display tribute. (inyourarea.co.uk)
