HX Expeditions Launches 2028/29 Season with 26 New Voyages Across Antarctica, the Arctic and Scandinavia
New Antarctica departures from the Falkland Islands, shorter Alaska and Greenland expeditions, HX’s first dedicated Scandinavia programme, a new Baffin Island circumnavigation and 9 new Ocean Crossing voyages headline the 2028/29 season.
HX Expeditions has launched its 2028/29 season, introducing 57 voyages across 14 destinations worldwide, including 26 new itineraries, 2 destinations new to the company and 5 major product innovations.
Key additions include a new Antarctica and South Georgia expedition, Antarctic departures from the Falkland Islands that reduce transit time and increase time spent exploring, shorter-format voyages in Alaska and Greenland, HX’s first dedicated Scandinavia programme, and a new Baffin Island circumnavigation in Arctic Canada. The season combines new destinations, new routes and greater flexibility, giving guests more opportunities to explore both iconic expedition regions and lesser-visited corners of the world.

Antarctica & South Georgia: A New Voyage and Gateway South
Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in Antarctica, HX is introducing a new 19-day Antarctica & South Georgia voyage aboard MS Roald Amundsen, offering a more accessible way to experience two of the polar region’s most sought-after destinations in a single expedition.
The season will also see HX begin Antarctic departures from Stanley aboard MS Fram, becoming the first major expedition company in more than a decade to use the Falkland Islands as a gateway to Antarctica and creating a new route to South Georgia and Antarctica, increasing time spent in each destination.
Alaska: New Shorter Expedition Formats
HX is introducing two new 8-day (7-night) Inside Passage expeditions between Vancouver and Sitka, replacing previous 10- and 13-day itineraries and offering five full days in Southeast Alaska with just one sea day. Guests can combine the northbound and southbound sailings into a 15-day Vancouver-to-Vancouver expedition without repeating a single destination, while a new 17-day Aleutian Islands voyage between Vancouver and Whittier further expands the programme.
Developed in partnership with Indigenous communities, the itineraries build on HX’s community-led approach to exploration in Alaska. New calls at Kake and Elfin Cove join the programme, while ongoing partnerships, including with Old Harbor Native Corporation, continue to create opportunities for cultural exchange and access to lesser-visited bays, fjords and wilderness areas.
Greenland: Greater Flexibility Across the Destination
A new 8-day (7-night) Discovering West Greenland – Icebergs & Communities of Disko Bay itinerary will sail roundtrip from Nuuk. With no sea days, the voyage combines Greenland’s iconic highlights, including Disko Bay, the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord and remote Inuit communities such as Kangaamiut and Maniitsoq, in a single week-long expedition.
The season also introduces a new 11-day version of Exploring the Garden of Greenland, giving guests more flexibility across the destination. Together with HX’s existing 15-day Greenland expeditions, the new voyages create HX’s most flexible Greenland programme to date, offering options from one week to over two weeks across multiple regions of the world’s largest island.
Scandinavia: HX’s First Dedicated Regional Programme
Building on more than 130 years of exploration in Scandinavia, HX is launching its first dedicated regional programme aboard MS Spitsbergen. Highlights include the new 13-day Sweden & Finland: Autumn in the Gulf of Bothnia, available in both northbound and southbound sailings and marking HX’s first voyages into the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Bothnia.
The programme also features the 10-day Southern Scandinavia: Between Norwegian Fjords and Swedish Isles, available in both northbound and southbound directions, and the 14-day Norway Cape to Cape – Beyond the Arctic Circle. Together, the voyages expand HX’s expedition approach across Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, showcasing coastal communities, archipelagos, iconic fjords and Arctic landscapes.
Arctic Canada: Circumnavigating Baffin Island
One of the season’s most ambitious additions is the new 19-day Into the Northwest Passage – Circumnavigating Baffin Island voyage aboard MS Roald Amundsen. The itinerary includes a full circumnavigation of Baffin Island, entry into the Northwest Passage and an attempt to transit the Fury and Hecla Strait, a route rarely navigated by expedition vessels.
Combining Arctic wilderness with Inuit culture and history, including visits to communities such as Qikiqtarjuaq and Kinngait, the capital of Inuit art, the voyage offers one of the most comprehensive explorations of Baffin Island ever undertaken by HX.
Svalbard: HX’s Longest-Ever Season
With 23 departures featuring Svalbard in 2028, HX will operate its largest-ever programme in the archipelago, spanning the Midnight Sun season through to the return of the Northern Lights.
The programme includes HX’s core Svalbard voyages aboard MS Spitsbergen and MS Fram, alongside the return of Arctic Islands Discovery, linking Svalbard, East Greenland and Iceland.
Ocean Crossings: Nine New Voyages
The season also introduces 9 new Ocean Crossing voyages across the Atlantic and Pacific, transforming traditional repositioning sailings into standalone experiences. The new routes span a diverse mix of destinations, from Bermuda, Cape Verde, Salvador and Recife in the Atlantic to Golfito, Huatulco and La Paz in the Pacific.
Several voyages cross the Equator, taking guests between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, while other new additions include a sailing to Seville via the Guadalquivir River and routes connecting key expedition regions across the Pacific.
The Galápagos Islands: Year-Round Wildlife Expeditions Aboard Santa Cruz II
HX continues its year-round Galápagos programme aboard Santa Cruz II. The season features the brands established itineraries, including In Darwin’s Footsteps and Nine of the Best Isles, alongside voyage extensions adding Machu Picchu. Sailing with small guest numbers and local guides, the expeditions combine close encounters with the archipelago’s unique wildlife, from giant tortoises and marine iguanas to blue-footed boobies and sea lions.
