Disney Cruise Line set sail from Port Canaveral for the first time since the pandemic shutdown
The first Disney cruise ship to sail from Florida in more than 500 days left Port Canaveral yesterday. The Disney Dream sailed out for the Bahamas carrying a reduced load of passengers after successfully completing a test sailing last month. (orlandoweekly.com)

Carnival Corporation today (May 28, 2021) received U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC) acceptance of its Phase 2A Port Agreements for PortMiami, Port of Galveston and Port Canaveral – all key homeports for Carnival Cruise Line and the first three homeports that Carnival is focusing on for its return to guest operations this summer. 
The Canaveral Port Authority (CPA) and the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) have executed an “Interlocal Agreement for Electronic Parking Fee Collection” to implement the E-PASS automated system at the Port that will enable customers to use contactless payment for parking at Port Canaveral-owned parking facilities with an E-PASS prepaid account.
The cruise ship Carnival Elation accidentally released 6,000 gallons of gray water into the harbor at Port Canaveral, Florida, cruise operator Carnival informed the U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday. (maritime-executive.com)
Disney Cruise Line passengers should be aware of a change to cruises embarking and debarking from Port Canaveral. According to Disney Cruise Line Blog, documents revealed ahead of Wednesday’s Port Canaveral board of commission meeting show that the cruise line’s Cruise Terminal 8 (CT8) will be closed for a five-month refurbishment from June to October of next year. The Canaveral Port Authority has joined forces with Ocala, FL-based Crossroads Alliance & Ministries to aid in humanitarian relief efforts for the hurricane-ravaged Bahamas. Crossroads Alliance is expanding its relief response capabilities with nearly 60,000 square feet of warehouse and office space donated by the Port Authority to the non-profit organization.
Port Canaveral was named “Best Cruise Port” in Global Traveler magazine’s annual readers’ survey and awarded the 2019 Leisure Lifestyle Award by the popular business and leisure luxury travel publication last week. 


At a space-themed ceremony today, the Canaveral Port Authority and longtime cruise partner Carnival Cruise Line officially broke ground for construction of Port Canaveral’s new Cruise Terminal 3 complex.
At a special meeting on Tuesday, the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners unanimously approved awarding Merritt Island-based Ivey’s Construction Inc. a $78.98 million contract for the Port’s Cruise Terminal 3 project and a $29.53 million contract for the adjacent 1,800-vehicle parking garage.
Port Canaveral welcomed the world’s largest cruise ship before dawn Thursday as Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas made its historic first North American port of call.
