The new cruise ship for AIDA Cruises, AIDAnova, will probably leave Papenburg on Monday, October 8, 2018 to be conveyed on the river Ems to Eemshaven (Netherlands). Cruise company AIDA Cruises has named its latest ship AIDAnova on Friday evening. The spectacular naming ceremony took place at the completely sold-out AIDA Open Air at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, attended by 25,000 spectators. (more…)

The AIDAnova, the world’s first LNG-fueled cruise ship, made her debut Tuesday in a float out ceremony at Meyer Werft Papenburg and will now be positioned at a dock at the shipyard for final hotel outfitting ahead of a delivery this autumn.

Today, Thursday, September 21, 2017, an AIDAnova module has been released into the water for the first time at the Neptun shipyard in Rostock, which belongs to the Meyer Group. On 31 May, 2017, at 6:00 pm, one of the best-kept secrets of the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg was lifted: a spectacular graffiti surprise revealed the name of the first ship of the first generation that can run on LNG (liquefied natural gas) with nearly zero emissions.

The 2018 newbuild for AIDA Cruises from Meyer Werft will carry the name AIDAnova, according to a press release from the German line. (cruiseindustrynews.com)

On February 21, 2017, a new age dawned for the cruise shipping sector at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg.
