Hurtigruten Named Top Expedition Cruise Line. Recognized for its excellence in Expedition Travel by TravelAge West
Hurtigruten has been named the “Best Expedition Cruise Line” by TravelAge West’s 2016 WAVE (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) Awards.
The recognition further cements Hurtigruten’s place as a world leader in expedition travel and adds to a long list of recent awards and accolades for the company. Most recently, Hurtigruten was celebrated as the “Best Polar Expedition Operator” at the 2016 Travvy Awards.
“It is truly an honor for Hurtigruten to be named a winner at the WAVE Awards,” said Gordon Dirker, Managing Director of Hurtigruten North America. “The demand is growing within expedition travel and winning this award highlights Hurtigruten’s dominance within this sector.”
More than 170 companies, individuals and destinations were celebrated by the readers of TravelAge West as part of the TravelAge West WAVE Awards held June 16 at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey, Calif. Honorees were recognized in 68 categories ranging from the cruise, tour operator, airline, hotel and resort, rail vacation, travel insurance, GDS and destination travel fields.
Every year, the editorial team at TravelAge West reviews hundreds of travel suppliers and products through a strict methodology that includes product analysis, on-site visits, a travel agent survey and online research. More than 5,500 travel agents voted as part of the awards.
Explorer travel is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the tourism industry. Hurtigruten’s impressive global operations has now expanded to four ships offering unique nature and cultural experiences around the South and North poles.
