Cruise ship visits Ogdensburg, Clayton
Cruise line passengers are visiting Clayton and Ogdensburg this year as part of a new route along the St. Lawrence River.
American Cruise Lines is operating cruises from Buffalo to Oswego, Clayton and Ogdensburg on the newly-built, 130-passenger ship, the American Patriot. Seven cruises are scheduled for Ogdensburg this year. Two have already taken place.
Ogdensburg Mayor Mike Tooley toured the boat on its first stop and was told most of the passengers are retirees.
“They tend to be people who like to visit ports of call for the opportunity to visit museums and areas of historical significance,” Tooley said. “So certainly Ogdensburg fits into that.”
