Expected 200,000 Highland cruise ship passengers could drain funding for £2 bus fare pilot forcing the popular Scottish Government scheme to end early

Cruise Scotland (Logo)The Scottish Government’s hugely popular £2 bus fare pilot could end early if it runs out of cash as concerns emerge about 200,000 cruise ship passengers expected this year draining the available funding.

Despite the boost to the local economy those visitors arriving off the 95 huge ships that are expected to dock in Invergordon there is a concern that such numbers could impact the pilot.

If all those passengers used the £2 bus far once then it would amount to £800,000 getting from Invergordon to, for example, Inverness or elsewhere.
