MSC Group Marks Back-to-Back Shore Power Milestone in Malta
MSC Group’s Cruise Division has reached another major milestone in its decarbonization journey.
The company announced that two of its vessels — MSC World Europa and Explora II — connected to shore power at Valletta’s Grand Harbour on consecutive days, October 15 and October 16, 2025.
The occasion was marked during a high-level event in Valletta attended by Dr. Robert Abela, the prime minister of Malta, and senior government officials.
The back-to-back connections mark a first for the company, with Explora II becoming the first Explora Journeys ship to connect to shore-side electricity in Europe.
