Carnival Corporation has big changes coming for private island Half Moon Cay, which hosts calls from Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line — two of Carnival Corp.’s brands. Plans are in the works for a pier, which will eliminate the need for passengers to tender ashore — a process that can be time-consuming and tedious, particuarly in rough weather or for cruisers with mobility issues. Several people were airlifted back to the U.S. after sustaining “serious or critical injuries” in the Bahamas Monday morning when a Carnival Cruise Line tour bus crashed and overturned. Four people were airlifted out of Rock Sound, on the island of Eleuthera, after a shore excursion bus carrying 32 Carnival Ecstasy passengers crashed just 20 minutes north of Princess Cays, the company said in a statement. A partnership involving Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has purchased the largest resort on Grand Bahama Island and will redevelop and expand the cruise facilities in Freeport. Disney Dream hit the dock after arriving in Nassau this morning (September 30). Photos were posted on social media and show a dent above the water line on the ship’s stern. It is still unknown at this time what caused the ship to hit the pier. One passenger onboard posted that it was foggy this morning in Nassau. (cruisefever.net)
