Symphony of the Seas is Officially Delivered: Royal Caribbean Welcomes World’s Largest Ship

Thirty-six months, 4,700 shipbuilders and crew, and one common goal: to deliver the ultimate family adventure. Royal Caribbean International honored the instrumental project team of Symphony of the Seas during the highly anticipated delivery event at STX France shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, Richard Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and Laurent Castaing, General Manager of STX France, led the traditional flag-changing ceremony, which symbolizes the ship’s official delivery from the ship builder to Royal Caribbean.

Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises' Executive Chairman MSC Cruises celebrated today a further acceleration in its industry-unprecedented ten-year investment plan. Under the €9 billion plan, six of a total of 11 new ships will have come into service between June 2017 and November 2020, resulting in a doubling of the MSC Cruises fleet capacity in just three and a half years. Reports Signal STX France/Fincantieri Deal Done

Le Lyrial at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyardMedia reports coming out of Europe claim a long-awaited deal to give Fincantieri control of STX France is essentially done. According to Reuters, under the agreement Fincantieri will take 50 percent of STX France, the French state 34.34 percent, Naval Group 10 percent, STX staff 2 percent and STX local suppliers 3.66 percent. STX France Lays Keel for Celebrity Edge

Today, (June 21) the ceremonial keel laying took place for Celebrity Edge in Saint-Nazaire, France at STX France. An 875 ton block was lifted in the air and a lucky coin was placed in the dock before the block was lowered into position. (cruiseindustrynews.com)

Fincantieri and French government sign STX France agreement

Fincantieri’s Bid for STX France Approved by South Korea

Fincantieri’s bid for a majority stake in STX France has been approved as the preferred bidder by the South Korean courts. The French government will keep a 33 percent stake in the yard if the buyout moves forward, while Fincantieri will become the majority owner at two thirds, and was reported to be the only bidder.
