Two Cruise Lines Drop Brunei Port Visits in Response to Country’s New LGBTQ Laws

Two cruise lines have announced that they will cease visiting Brunei in the wake of the country’s adoption of brutal anti-LGBTQ laws. Both Princess Cruises and Regent Seven Seas are eliminating port visits to the country which last week quietly ushered in a new law that makes homosexual sex an offense that’s punishable by death. Regent Cancels China Calls on 2020 Itinerary Due to Berthing Conflicts

Regent Seven Seas Cruises (Logo)Regent Seven Seas Cruises has cancelled a number of port calls in China on an itinerary scheduled for February 12 to March 14, 2020, a spokesperson for the cruise line has confirmed to Travel Agent. While guests on the public RSSC Social Club Facebook group had speculated that the stops were cancelled for political reasons, a cruise line spokesperson tells Travel Agent that the changes were due to berthing conflicts. Regent Seven Seas Cruises is adding more visits to Cuba on two itineraries in 2019 and 2020

Seven Seas Mariner will offer the line’s first immersive Cuba itinerary on her October 15, 2019 voyage, calling on Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba, providing guests more opportunities to engage in group, people-to-people activities intended to enhance contact with the Cuban people, and to immerse in the island’s culture.
