A familiar sight is returning to the Elizabeth River this year as cruise ships make their way to Hampton Roads after a pause in operations due to the pandemic. Touted as “Britain’s newest cruise ship,” the United Kingdom-based Spirit of Discovery docked in Norfolk for the first time for a port visit. The ship brought 1,000 passengers stateside, who spent the traditional English holiday touring local attractions and destinations, including the British-themed Dickens’ Christmas Towne located inside the cruise terminal.
