Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas will touch water for the first time as it’s “floated out” from a dry dock at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, where it has been under construction for more than a year. Fincantieri, which operates several shipyards in Italy, was forced to stop all work during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in that country. Fincantieri takeover of STX France confirmed

Harmony of The Seas under construction at STX France (2015)French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has confirmed a merger between Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and STX France, reports Reuters. “Italy and France share the same desire to wrap up the STX-Fincantieri merger, which will produce one of the biggest civilian shipbuilders in the world,” Le Maire reportedly told journalists after talks with the Italian Government. Fincantieri bought a 50 per cent share in STX France earlier this year and renamed its shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique. (www.bairdmaritime.com)

About 60 tests will be performed during those few days to test all the systems under real conditions. She will returned at the yard on Sunday July 29th, where the work on board will be completed before her delivery to Celebrity Cruises.
