Seabourn Pursuit Crew Delivers Cyclone Relief to Papua New Guinea Communities

Seabourn (Logo) During Seabourn Pursuit’s stop at Alotau in Papua New Guinea on May 11, the ship coordinated the donation of essential relief supplies to support communities impacted by Cyclone Maila, which devastated parts of the region in April.

The handover took place at the Alotau Provincial Wharf in Milne Bay, where local officials received 4 tons of supplies and expressed deep appreciation for the support.

The contribution included fresh produce, non‑perishable food items, and additional essential goods such as sheets, towels, and other hotel supplies sourced directly from the ship, helping support families and communities continuing to recover from the storm’s impact.

The initiative was sparked by David Sinclair, a longtime expedition professional with deep knowledge of the region, who brought the need to Seabourn Pursuit’s shipboard team. From there, it quickly evolved into a ship wide effort and became a meaningful example of the care and generosity shown by the ship’s crew, staff and expedition team when a community was in need.

“Expedition travel gives us the opportunity to connect with some of the world’s most remote communities, and when we learned about the impact Cyclone Maila had on the region, the team immediately wanted to find a way to help,” said Dominic Del Rosario, Seabourn Pursuit’s Expedition Leader.

“What began as a simple conversation quickly became a team effort, with the ship’s crew and staff coming together to contribute supplies that we hoped could make even a small difference for families recovering from the storm. It was an incredibly meaningful moment for all of us on board.”
