Puerto Plata’s muscle in cruise ships: it captures more than 80% of arrivals in the Dominican Republic
The Ámber Cove and Taíno Bay terminals, which operate in the tourist destination of Puerto Plata, received 82.6% of the 2 million, 656,305 cruise passengers who arrived in the country last year.
According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), 994,609 passengers arrived at the Taino Bay port in 2024, 34.8% more than in the previous year, when 203 operations were registered at that terminal.
Meanwhile, at the Amber Cove terminal, owned by Carnival Corporation and located in the district of Maimon, one million 201 thousand 255 passengers arrived, 45.2% more than those recorded in 2023, when 285 operations were recorded.
