AdventureSmith Explorations, Discovering the Wonder of Baja California by Small-Ship Just Got Easier. Exciting new itineraries and direct air service make Baja travel even better this season
Two new itineraries, seasonal deals and new air service into La Paz, Mexico are offering even more incentive to visit Baja California by small ship.
AdventureSmith Explorations, the global leader in small-ship adventure cruises, reports it’s not too late to make plans to explore Baja California during the peak of the region’s marine life viewing season (November through April).
“Travelers are showing more interest in exploring the northern reaches of Baja, and we’re eager to show them why this lesser-visited region is so special,” said Todd Smith, AdventureSmith Explorations founder and president.
“Two brand-new 11-day itineraries offer an in-depth exploration and venture farther north to Bahia de los Angeles or the yachter’s paradise of Puerto Refugio. This also coincides with an exciting historical event — the return of John Steinbeck and marine biologist Ed Ricketts’ historic ‘Western Flyer’ ship to the Gulf of California in April 2025 after 85 years away.”
New, expanded Baja cruises launching this season include:
• In Steinbeck’s Wake: An Epic Voyage through the Sea of Cortez. Inspired by John Steinbeck’s “Log from the Sea of Cortez,” this 11-day cruise aboard the 66-guest Safari Voyager goes farther on the Baja Peninsula than most ships. With tours starting in November 2024, this unique itinerary includes visits to some of the same sites Steinbeck and Ricketts explored, themed dinners and activities that bring the book to life. Passengers on the April 5th and April 25th sailings will enjoy an exclusive tour of the historic Western Flyer.
• Baja California Discovery: Exploring Mexico’s Gulf of California is the result of years of careful exploration by veteran naturalists and features the best destinations this rich sea has to offer. This 11-day exploration of the Sea of Cortez aboard the 100-guest National Geographic Venture includes some lesser visited sites like the Midriff Islands including Isla Rasa, where half a million nesting seabirds occupy a 150-acre island. National Geographic photographers and photo instructors are also aboard to share tips and years of expertise.
Making travel to Baja easier than ever, Alaska Airlines has returned to La Paz, Mexico, on the shores of the Gulf of California with non-stop service from LAX.
Plus, there are special offers on holiday Baja cruises if travelers book by the end of November. If Baja isn’t on the list this year, other holiday season adventures are on sale in Hawaii and the Galapagos Islands:
