Seatrade: Baltic Has “So Much More to Offer” Than St. Petersburg

Statsgården pier in central Stockholm (Courtesy Ports of Stockholm)The Baltic region has seen a sharp decline in the number of port calls as a result of US cruise lines pulling itineraries due to the conflict in Ukraine, but port officials were reminding industry figures assembled at a cocktail reception at the Seatrade Cruise Global Convention in Fort Lauderdale that there was more to the region than just the port of St. Petersburg, Russia.

The Baltic region, which includes countries like Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden, is expected to see a 9% decrease in the number of calls in 2023 compared with 2022, which is 21% lower compared to 2019.
