Lyttelton, New Zealand, ‘overrun and overwhelmed’ by cruise ship passengers

Lyttelton is being “overrun and overwhelmed” by the volume of cruise ship passengers, residents say. Locals are worried about the long-term impact of the cruise industry on their “sleepy little town” and are fed up at having to battle the crowds when taking the bus.

But, public bus network operator Environment Canterbury (ECan) says it is struggling to meet passenger demand as it grapples with a driver shortage.
