SuperStar Virgo completes inaugural cruises from Guangzhou Nansha Port

SuperStar Virgo began her year-round homeport in Guangzhou Nansha Port on Sunday 3 January and completed her first inaugural 6 day/5 night weekday cruise to Halong Bay, Danang and Sanya and her first inaugural 3 day/2 night weekend cruise to Hong Kong last week.

With 1,860 passengers, SuperStar Virgo’s first inaugural 6 day/5 night weekday cruise from the new cruise terminal in Guangzhou (Nansha port) called at Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Tuesday, Danang in central Vietnam on Wednesday and Sanya, Hainan on Thursday before returning to Guangzhou (Nansha port) on Friday.

Priced from RMB 3,499 per person, this all-inclusive cruise (excluding shore excursions) is the best value for a holiday to Vietnam and Hainan Island with the convenience of not needing to pack and unpack and check in and check out of airports, hotels, etc.

Accounting for over 1,300 passengers during the inaugural sailing, Mr. Zhu Shaodong, President of GZL International Travel Service Ltd. said: “SuperStar Virgo’s homeport deployment in Guangzhou (Nansha port) is beneficial for the cruise industry in the Pearl River Delta region, providing our passengers a convenient holiday option departing right from their doorsteps. Our guests have really been enjoying the many new F&B and entertainment enhancements that Star Cruises has developed for these new itineraries and the market response has been very favourable.”

SuperStar Virgo will continue this 6 day/5 night cruise every week until November 2016 when she will be replaced by the new and ultra-luxurious 150,000 ton, 3,400-passenger Genting Dream, the first “Dream Cruises” vessel. Both Star Cruises and the Premium “Dream Cruises” are owned by Genting Hong Kong.

For a shorter itinerary, the first inaugural 3 day/2 night weekend cruise departed from Guangzhou on Friday 8 January calling at Hong Kong. As a special bonus, passengers on board these sailings will be treated to world-class entertainment as part of their fare; guest artists appearing every Saturday for the first three months include Richie Ren, Andy Hui, Michael Wong, Tiger Huang, Michael Tse, William So, Edwin Siu, Johnny Yip and Bo Luk.
