Surge in cruise visitors for Cromarty Firth, Scotland

Highland businesses have had a major boost in tourism after Scotland’s busiest cruise port recorded an increase of more than 53,000 passengers to the north. The Port of Cromarty Firth welcomed 151,078 cruise travellers on 93 ships to Invergordon and the Highlands since the season began in April. (pressandjournal.co.uk)

New Cruise Manager for Port of Cromarty Firth

The Port of Cromarty Firth announced on Friday the appointment their new Cruise Manager, Allison McGuire, as the port marks another record-breaking year of cruise calls. McGuire, who has recently moved to Inverness, brings with her two decades of experience in the cruise industry, having worked for Saga Cruises in the UK and Oceania Cruises in Florida. Orkney copes with cruise ship invasion

The number of cruise ship passengers stopping off in Orkney has increased massively in recent years but the tourist invasion has not all been plain sailing. This year, 140 cruise liners will berth at Hatston pier, on the outskirts of Kirkwall, the biggest town on Orkney’s mainland. (bbc.com)

Invergordon Cruise Traffic Up 45 Percent

“We are expecting 91 calls and about 142,330 passengers this year in Invergordon. Both of these are records and represent growth of 44 percent and 45 percent, respectively over last year’s figures, which in turn were records,” said Captain Iain Dunderdale, cruise manager for Invergordon (Port of Cromarty Firth).
