LNG refuelling in Caribbean marks milestone for cruise shipping

Small-scale LNG and bunkering infrastructure is growing in the Caribbean, supporting cruise shipping’s expanding use of LNG and bioLNG as a decarbonisation fuel.
In the latest industry milestone, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas was refuelled with LNG in Honduras by the 7,500-m3 LNG bunkering vessel Avenir Advantage. One of the world’s largest cruise ships, the 250,800-gt behemoth called at Roatán on its Western Caribbean voyage on 18 August.
