MSC Cruises achieve world-first verified methane reporting under FuelEU Maritime
Methane emissions are rapidly turning into one of the most closely watched issues in maritime decarbonisation, particularly for shipowners investing in LNG-powered vessels while facing tighter European reporting requirements.
MSC Cruises has now become the first cruise operator to secure independent verification and Flag State recognition of actual methane emissions from its ships under the FuelEU Maritime framework, following the certification of MSC World Europa and MSC Euribia by Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore.
For ship managers, the development matters because it replaces standard regulatory assumptions with measured vessel performance.
