Ambassador Cruise Line welcomes 100,000th Guest aboard Ambition
Ambassador Cruise Line celebrated a major milestone on Monday 12 January with the 100,000th guest setting sail on its second lady of the sea, Ambition, from London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, Essex.
Carole Cotton from Leatherhead, Surrey, was welcomed aboard Ambition ahead of the 23-night Enchanting Escapes and Iberian Charm: Madeira to Morocco sailing.
Ambition’s 100,000th guest, who was enjoying an Ambassador sailing for the first time having cruised just once before, enjoyed a champagne reception on arrival at London Cruise Terminal along with Ambition’s Hotel Director, Michael Shaji, her Guest Services Supervisor, Beth Macayanan, and the Cruise Director, Emily Shortall.
Following the embarkation, Carole said she felt ‘completely overwhelmed’ to be named the 100,000th guest to sail aboard Ambition.
“Things like this don’t happen to me,” Carole explains. “It was a great welcome being met by the Hotel Director and their team and it was lovely to be made a fuss of! I can’t thank Ambassador enough for this very special and unexpected surprise.”
Carole is a solo traveller, and although this is only the second time she will have enjoyed a cruise, she is very well travelled. Having holidayed previously with her husband and as an individual on Escorted Tours with small groups of people, the Enchanting Escapes and Iberian Charm: Madeira to Morocco sailing – which takes in a range of ports of call including Lisbon, Madeira, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Casablanca and Gibraltar – marks the first time she has fully journeyed without being accompanied after she thought that “a cruise with Ambassador would give me the confidence and security to go it fully alone”.
With regards to her plans for the weeks ahead, Carole said that she’d was “very much looking forward to visiting Santiago de Compostella and also Tangier and Casablanca, which are a little bit of me.”
Bob McGowan, Chief Experience Officer, Ambassador Cruise Line, said: “We are incredibly proud to welcome Carole aboard our second lady of the sea as her 100,000th guest. Ambition sailed for the first time in May 2023, so to have welcomed so many guests aboard in such a short amount of time is a true reflection of the incredible community at sea we’ve created on board. It’s the dedication of our friendly crew and the exceptional service we offer, combined with the true voyages of discovery all our guests enjoy, that make this milestone so special.
“Here’s to offering the warmest welcome at sea to new and returning guests aboard the Ambassador fleet for many more years to come – not least Carole Cotton, who we hope to welcome back on board in the very near future.”
More than 220,000 guests have travelled with Ambassador since the affordable quality cruise line’s first lady of the sea, Ambience, sailed for the first time in early 2022. With more ex-UK departures than any other cruise line, the UK’s leading independent cruise operator offers no-fly sailings from London Cruise Terminal, Newcastle Tyne, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol Royal Portbury and – debuting this season – Portsmouth, marking Ambassador’s first operation from the region aboard Ambition.
Offering guests the convenience of embarking on their next adventure from a port that’s close to home, the latest addition to Ambassador’s port offering is set to make sailings even more accessible to a broader section of the population, providing easy embarkation for those residing in the South of England.
