Adventure Canada to Honour Truth and Reconciliation Week

Adventure Canada (Logo)Adventure Canada guests and expedition team joined together to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on the 2022 Greenland and Wild Labrador expedition.

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada—a day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities. It’s also a time to reflect on the lasting impacts of residential schools and the importance of reconciliation.

In recent years, this day has grown into Truth and Reconciliation Week, taking place this year from September 22–26, 2025. Across the country, schools, workplaces, and organizations are hosting opportunities for learning, dialogue, and remembrance.

At Adventure Canada, our office team will be taking part in the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation’s (NCTR) virtual Lunch & Learn series—and we invite you to consider joining as well.

These free, 50-minute sessions run daily at 12 p.m. CDT and feature Survivors, knowledge keepers, and experts sharing insights on the legacy of residential schools and the work of reconciliation ahead.

Lunch & Learn Topics:

● Mon, Sept. 22: Surviving the Residential School System
● Tue, Sept. 23: Uncovering the Truth: Ground Searches
● Wed, Sept. 24: The Ongoing Legacy of the Residential School System through Child Welfare
● Thu, Sept. 25: Reflecting on the TRC’s Calls to Action 10 Years Later
● Fri, Sept. 26: Confronting Residential School Denialism

All sessions are free, open to everyone, and available in English, French, and ASL.
