Onshore power for cruise ships from 2027 in Hamburg
Onshore power for cruise ships will become standard in the Port Hamburg from 2027 and shipping will become climate-friendlier – three years earlier than required by the EU.
The required infrastructure is already available in the Altona and Steinwerder terminals.
A new terminal in HafenCity will be linked up to the onshore power grid. Test operations will begin in 2026.
