Aurora Expeditions Launches Sold-Out Inaugural Small Ship Season. First-ever voyages in Spain and Morocco set the stage for expanded small-ship exploration

Sylvia Earle - Aurora ExpeditionsAurora Expeditions has launched its first small ship season, with all four voyages to the Mediterranean selling out well in advance of departure.

The new offer marks a key step in the company’s expansion to new destinations beyond the polar regions.

Sailing aboard the Sylvia Earle, passengers are exploring the Mediterranean through a series of culturally focused itineraries. From the medinas of Marrakech, the historic streets of Rome, or the whitewashed hill towns of Andalusia, the voyages are designed for curious travelers looking for something different.

“This season shows there’s demand for small-group travel that goes beyond the usual routes,” said Michael Heath, CEO of Aurora Expeditions. “We’re bringing our expedition style to new places and giving people a deeper way to explore.”

Building on the success of the inaugural season, the small-ship season will expand significantly in 2026. The Douglas Mawson will operate 14 voyages in the Mediterranean, while the Greg Mortimer will offer five more in Europe and three in Oceania.

Aurora’s expanded 2026 global offering also includes travel to more destinations than ever before, with new small-ship voyages along the Rhine, Main, and Danube Rivers, exploring ancient history in UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as The Acropolis in Athens or The Tower of Belem in Lisbon, and the discovering saints, saviors and everyday heroes in Ireland and Scotland, adding to its strong reputation for experiential travel with immersive activities and thoughtful enrichment programs.
