Assembly Approves Date for Cruise Limit Election

Sitka, AlaskaIn a brief special meeting Tuesday, the Assembly voted 6-0 to approve an ordinance on first reading setting May 28 as the date for a special election on cruise ship passenger limits.

Second reading and final approval of the ordinance is scheduled for the regular Assembly meeting on March 25.

The city clerk chose an election date in accordance with the requirement in the city charter that the election on an initiative petition take place 40 to 90 days after a petition is filed with the required number of signatures.
