Ambassador Cruise Line, the UK’s affordable quality, no-fly cruise line, has announced three incredible brand-new entertainment initiatives that guests can expect to enjoy in the coming months.
Guests looking to relive the fun-filled 1980s can do so on the Benelux Coastal Explorer, with themed cabaret shows, nostalgic menus and special guest appearances featuring in a themed ‘Back to the 80s’ sailing next May.
‘Retro Rock Rebellion’, an all-new theatre show, will be joining Ambition’s fantastic onboard entertainment lineup next month and the new Ambassador PEEL Playwriting Challenge 2025 now offers burgeoning playwrights the unique opportunity of having their very own play staged onboard an Ambassador ship.
The new offerings promise something for everyone, whether you are a Shakespeare wannabe, a party-lover, a food fanatic – or all three!
Sail Back to the ‘80s with a Nostalgic Four-Night Cruise
In May 2025, guests will have the opportunity to embark on a four-night cruise onboard Ambience paying homage to the 1980s while exploring two captivating destinations: Belgium and the Netherlands. This isn’t just a cruise – it’s a celebration of a magical era where music was loud, fashion was bold and fun was endless.
Departing from London Cruise Terminal at Tilbury on 1 May 2025, the ‘Back to the 80ss’ themed Benelux Coastal Explorer itinerary promises an exciting blend of culture, nostalgia and entertainment. Highlights of the sailing will include a range of activities designed to transport travellers back in time, from themed cabaret shows and lively quizzes to menus bringing classic ‘80s favourites to life, fancy-dress competitions and workout classes inspired by the era of leotards and leg warmers.
Providing the soundtrack to this unforgettable itinerary, the Benelux Coastal Explorer will also include very special performances in the Palladium Theatre featuring two 80s icons: The Fizz – the spin-off pop group from Bucks Fizz featuring original members Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston; and Toyah Wilcox, the singer and actress, latterly of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fame, whose performance will undoubtedly show why the success of this sailing won’t be a mystery…
Guests will travel to Zeebrugge, Belgium, the gateway to the cobbled streets and historic charm of Bruges. From maritime history to the serene beauty of the North Sea coastline, Zeebrugge offers a captivating mix of history and tranquillity. Next, guests will sail to Ijmuiden, the Dutch harbour city that serves as a stepping stone to the lively cultural tapestry of Amsterdam complete with a bustling harbour, historic landmarks and scenic charm.

Rock Your Socks Off with New ‘Retro Rock Rebellion’ Show
As part of Ambassador’s ongoing commitment to delivering standout ‘Ambassador Moments’, a new rock and roll spectacular a big rock tenor singing show, will be joining Ambition’s incredible lineup of entertainment as of December 2024.
‘Retro Rock Rebellion’ is set in a biker/rock bar on a hot summer’s night in America. The atmosphere will be electrified by a young group of wannabe rock stars who hit the open mic, making the best use of the jukebox to showcase their talents. The new show promises guests a fun-filled night of rock and roll.
‘Ambassador PEEL Playwrighting Challenge 2025’ launched to find unsung literary talent
Ambassador Cruise Line and the PEEL Entertainment Group have come together to launch the Ambassador PEEL Playwriting Challenge 2025, with entries set to open in January 2025.
Peel Entertainment is an award-winning entertainment production company that has worked in the cruise industry for over 25 years and who have produced a variety of amazing entertainment for Ambassador since Ambience’s maiden voyage in April 2022.
This includes Theatre@Sea, a programme that offers a variety of productions including dramas, comedies, thrillers and modern adaptations of classics.
The ‘Ambassador PEEL Playwrighting Challenge 2025’ offers both experienced writers and unproduced playwrights the opportunity to submit their work to be in with a chance of having it staged onboard an Ambassador ship as part of PEEL’s Theatre @ Sea programme. Shortlisted playwrights will be invited to join the ship for the day and will have the opportunity to see their work performed by the team of accomplished actors.
The winner will also receive a cash prize of £6,000 and a free cruise for two in 2026.
Entries for the award – the first of its kind to take place on a cruise ship – open on 15 January 2025 with members of the public able to submit their works up to 4 April 2025.
