Newport may up fee to disembark from cruise ships

Perrotti Park in Newport is in need of a major restoration. The city of Newport is working on finding a way to replace the currently damaged bulkhead holding up the seawall.

“The actual metal itself is starting to have holes in it,” said Stephen Land, the Newport Harbormaster. “With a catastrophic weather event this will fall over and we will have a mess on our hands.”

The seawall has been eroding below and a sink hole on the northern end has already began to show.
