Historic German cruise ship awaits tow from Stockton to scrapyard
The fate of a historic German cruise ship is almost certainly sealed as Stockton, San Joaquin County and state agencies script the final moments of the Aurora.
On May 22, the nearly 300-foot-long Aurora began taking on water in Little Potato Slough in the California Delta, dumping oil, diesel and other waste into the waterway.
Just over a month later, on June 27, the California Office of Spill Prevention and Recovery reported that resurfacing efforts were successful and several thousands of gallons of waste were removed from the water.
