Saga launches extended range of travel products

Saga (Logo) Saga, the UK’s specialist in products and services for people over 50, has launched an extended range of travel insurance products.

By leveraging Saga’s extensive customer research, the business has developed a new range of products to meet growing demand for more curated travel insurance packages and to offer its customers – the over 50s – even more choice. These products are informed by Saga’s dedicated in-house research and insight division, which continually surveys this group to document what they want and need.

Saga has improved and extended their range of available products from two to five in total, which includes extended coverage across three Single Trip levels and two Annual Multi-trip levels. The move reflects preference amongst customers for greater flexibility and protection against an expanding range of holidays such as weekend city breaks through to luxury trips of a lifetime.

Key customer benefits include:

● More flexibility to tailor cover to suit traveller needs including greater cancellation cover, better excesses and longer trip durations.
● Up to £20,000 in cancellation cover under the Plus Single Trip, confirming Saga’s presence as a leader in the market.
● The introduction of zero excesses on new products, meaning new and renewing customers will no longer need to pay any additional deductions on their policies. Saga is already leading the way in this space with customers currently only paying one excess per claim.
● An increase to trip limits now allows customers to travel up to 180 days in total per policy year.
● Continued cover for most pre-existing medical conditions.
● Delayed Flight Assistance which automatically gives customers the opportunity to enjoy a LoungeKey airport lounge while waiting for their flights.

The new product launch is part of Saga’s strategic objective to become the brand of choice for older people in the UK, offering a range of curated products and services for those over 50. Saga’s research shows that customers are most concerned by medical emergencies, transport delays and cancellations and consider a travel policy based on its level of protection against these.

Kevin McMullan, Health and Travel Director at Saga said; “We are very excited to launch our innovative range of travel products which continue to offer cover for a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions. Our research shows that many of our customers, who are experienced and frequent travellers, are looking for more flexible travel insurance to give them even more protection against a wider range of travel plans. With this in mind, we have worked to provide more personalised options for customers to protect against their biggest concerns, including having to cancel a trip they are really looking forward to, transport delays and illness”.
