The Port and the cities of Motril and Granada, will host the International Congress of Nautical and Cruise Tourism Andalusia 2025
The Port of Motril, the host city and Granada will be the official venue for the fourth edition of the International Congress of Nautical Tourism and Cruise of Andalusia 2025.
This has been announced at the end of this edition, held in Cadiz. The baton was taken by the president of the Port Authority, José García Fuentes, and the mayor of Motril, Luisa María García Chamorro, from the president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz, Teófila Martínez, and the president of Suncruise, Rafael Carmona, also president of the Port Authority of Seville.
“We are facing a unique opportunity to present ourselves as a cruise destination open to a universe rich in contrasts, varied and unforgettable and to claim ourselves as a space for the MICE sector,” said the president of the Port Authority of Motril , José García Fuentes.
This term, which comes from English, includes business meetings, fairs, exhibitions, congresses and any activity that involves travel for professional purposes. In fact, in Spain MICE tourism has increased by 63% since 2013, representing 6% of the tourists received. Garcia Fuentes has revealed that the candidacy, linked to the cities of Motril and Granada through the Port of Motril and developed by Granada Convention Bureau, was supported endorsed by members of the Board of Directors of Suncruise Andalucía and “is the result of the alliance between public administrations and private entities in the province of Granada”.
“We are proud to host one of the largest cruise tourism events in Europe and the only one with a global character in which all aspects of this important industry are addressed. We are confident that we will meet the objectives and expectations generated, hand in hand with the Port Authority of Motril, a reflection of our commitment to the development of this type of tourism in our province,“ said the mayor of the City of Motril, Luisa María García Chamorro, who was accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism Promotion, María Ángeles Escámez.
The International Congress of Nautical Tourism and Cruise of Andalusia (CITCA Suncruise 2025) is supported by the City Councils of Motril and Granada, Granada Convention Bureau, Chambers of Commerce of Granada and Motril, Granada Provincial Council, University of Granada, Confederación Granadina de Empresarios, Federación Provincial de Empresas de Hostelería y Turismo de Granada, Junta de Andalucía, CETURSA, Patronato de Alhambra, Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa Tropical, Arzobispado de Granada, AECOST and Asociación de Chiringuitos.
