Contributing to Helping the Planet through Immersive Travel with Aurora Expeditions
Aurora Expeditions invites travelers to take the ultimate field trip to Antarctica or the Arctic where they’ll contribute to real scientific discoveries while cruising through pristine Polar landscapes.
Aurora Expeditions’ Citizen Science Program involves passengers on their polar expeditions by giving the opportunity to actively participate in scientific research and data collection. The program is designed to educate and engage passengers in important environmental issues that concern us at a local, regional and global level, while also contributing data to ongoing research projects.
Members of their passionate Expedition Team, together with a Citizen Science Coordinator, are on hand to introduce and assist passengers with the projects being conducted on their voyage.
Passengers are trained in specific data collection techniques, such as wildlife monitoring or water sampling and analyze the data found with these professionals on board. The data is then used by researchers to inform conservation efforts. Expert guidance on the collection of new scientific data will not only greatly enhance guests’ voyage experiences, but help them gain more knowledge of our ever-changing natural environment.
