Uniworld Boutique River Cruises (logo)Uniworld Boutique River Cruises was bestowed with the “Best River Cruise Line” award on August 14th at Virtuoso Travel Week’s “Cruise Night Out,” which hosted cruise partners and advisors at the invite-only celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This year, Virtuoso Travel Week celebrated its 35th anniversary of bringing together thousands of luxury travel professionals, travel advisors and top partners from all over the world for a week of networking, events and professional development opportunities.

“With heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the entire Uniworld team, we are truly honored by this esteemed award from our partners at Virtuoso,” says Ellen Bettridge, President and CEO of Uniworld Boutique River Cruises. “We take great pride in the elements that make Uniworld unique – from our sustainability efforts and one-of-a-kind offerings to our incredible staff that feel like family and custom designed ships – and we couldn’t be more grateful for this wonderful recognition.”

The cruising awards, separated into best river, ocean and expedition cruise line, are voted on by Virtuoso advisors, with the 2023 competition more cutthroat than ever due to the continuously growing cruise market. The recipients of this year’s awards were selected for their dedication to innovation, promoting the travel advisor community, and delivering truly remarkable travel adventures for consumers in some of the planet’s most exceptional locations.

Some key advancements at Uniworld this year that made the company a front-runner for this award included updates on the ‘How We Tread Right’ strategy, overseen by Sustainability Officer, Julie Higgins. Uniworld’s sustainability plan consists of 11 measurable goals including reducing 50% of food waste by 2025, eliminating single-use plastics, achieving net zero by 2050 and offering guests experiences in the destinations they sail by allowing them to support local communities throughout their river cruising journey.

Additionally, Uniworld successfully completed its first ‘Rivers of the World’ itinerary, a 46-night journey that took guests to nine countries aboard five luxury Super Ships, and will return next year with an even grander 55-night itinerary. Uniworld also added new post-cruise extensions to select itineraries in Greece, a new location for the company, and partnered with tailor-made specialist Adventure World to introduce even more pre- and post- cruise customizable journeys.

No matter the itinerary, each Uniworld river cruise ship is an individually designed work of art and floating boutique hotel, with its average capacity of 120 guests and one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios in the industry. Guests can expect exclusive experiences and excursions not available to the public, five-star cuisine and exceptional service.
