With 25 boats booked this year- can Aberdeen become Scotland’s cruise ship capital?
The Port of Aberdeen has quoted figures from Cruise Scotland showing that cruise calls to Scotland generate an average spend of £134 per passenger- and there are 12,000 passengers expected this year.
This week Aberdeen’s new £400millllion harbour welcomed it’s largest ever cruise ship- in what was hailed a new dawn for the city’s tourist industry.
The arrival of the AIDAaura on May 2, weighing in at 42,289 tonnes and at the length of an impressive 662 feet (202 metres), caught the attention of the city with hopes more of her sisters will soon be berthing here too.
