Greece Sailing On The Bounty: Tourism Revenues, Cruise Ships Jump

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said tourism revenues are exceeding Finance Ministry targets, helped by more cruise ships and opening the doors wide all year round, despite criticism infrastructure can’t keep up with so many visitors.

Speaking to the executive committee of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) he said that, “This has provided greater financial resilience to support society with targeted measures to tackle the crisis of imported inflation,” after COVID-19 health measures were essentially lifted in 2022.

“Visitors who come to our country should spend more money, and we should measure the success of the tourism season not only by the number of arrivals, but primarily by the amount of money these visitors ultimately contribute to our economy,” he said.
