PolarQuest announces new Svalbard expedition featuring the renowned photographer Mattias Klum
The small ship expedition cruise operator, PolarQuest, has launched a new Svalbard voyage with the internationally recognized and rewarded photographer and film producer, Mattias Klum, as Special Lecturer.
The expedition departs in August 2023, a period offering a warm photo light, magnificent sceneries and good opportunities to explore the seldom visited eastern parts of the archipelago.
– We are honoured to have Mattias Klum on board this voyage and to be able to add this extra value to the adventure. Late August is a magical time to visit Svalbard. The sun is getting closer and closer to the horizon, giving us a warm light, perfect for photography. In addition, the diverse landscapes, the glistering glaciers and the iconic wildlife including whales, walruses and polar bears, makes Svalbard a photographer’s dream, says Emma Nilsson, Head of Marketing at PolarQuest.
For ten days, the expedition members will journey through the untamed wilderness of Svalbard with the small and comfortable 51-passenger ship M/S Quest. Zodiac cruises are combined with landings and hikes to explore the unique nature up close. On board, Special Lecturer Mattias Klum, will share his knowledge of photography and talk about his exciting projects and expeditions to some of the world’s most remote and unique places. His artistic photographic language has rendered him success not only in the world of documentaries but also in the art scene.
– I have been working in Svalbard earlier and it’s undoubtedly one of my favourite places on earth. I’m looking forward to being a part of this PolarQuest adventure and to share unique experiences with my fellow travellers, says Mattias Klum.
– You don’t need to be a photographer to join, this cruise is perfect for anyone who has a keen interest in nature and wildlife, Emma Nilsson adds.
