Some highlights of the cruise in Israel :
– Galilee and Lake Tiberias –
Lake Tiberias is a freshwater lake also known as the Sea of Galilee, Israel’s main water resource, and for Christians the site of several founding myths told in the Bible. This tour will first take you to Cana, where Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine. Continuation to the Mount of the Beatitudes, which offers a remarkable view of Lake Tiberias, the hill on which, according to Christian tradition, Jesus preached the “Sermon on the Mount”. Drive to Tabgha, considered the most beautiful and serene of the Christian holy places, and the setting for many episodes of the Gospels. Finally, we continue to Capernaum, which was Jesus’ base camp at the height of his ministry in Galilee. Proposed as an option.
– Jerusalem and Bethlehem –
You will visit Bethlehem, the city of David, and the Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus and one of the oldest churches in the world. Drive to Jerusalem, one of the most sacred and fascinating cities in the world. The Old City is home to more than 200 historical monuments including the Wailing Wall and the Holy Sepulchre. You will discover the colorful market where the three main religions (Christian, Jewish and Muslim) live together. Offered in the program.
– Masada and the Dead Sea –
Overlooking the Judean desert and the Dead Sea, the impressive archaeological site of Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as one of the main vestiges of Jewish history. It was here that King Herod built a fortified palace, equipped with all the amenities of the time. After Herod’s death the mountain top was the last outpost of the Jewish Zealots, who opposed the Romans. After visiting the fortress, you will go to a hotel on the Dead Sea for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation and swimming in the hotel’s pool or in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea. Optional excursion.
– Nazareth –
Discover Nazareth through the picturesque hills of Galilee and the historic Jezreel Valley to the place where the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would give birth to the Messiah. Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, the largest Roman Catholic church in the Middle East and one of the holiest altars in the Christian world. Then visit the Orthodox Church of St. Gabriel, whose crypt feeds the Well of Mary. Finally, visit the Church of St. Joseph, built in 1914 on the site reputed to have been the workshop of the carpenter Joseph. Offered in the program.
