Iona - P&O Cruises (Courtesy Meyer Werft, October 2020)“We’re thrilled to announce that Iona’s godmother will be Dame Irene Hays, who will officially name our greenest, most innovative ship in a special ceremony on 16 May 2021”, P&O Cruises announces in its web site.

“We can’t wait for everyone to see Iona when she begins sailing this summer. And, while we’d have loved for you to watch her cruise into Southampton for the very first time, we’ll be filming Iona’s arrival so we can share all the best views from this unique event. From the comfort of home, you’ll be able to enjoy more than you could have from a front-row seat.”

Highlights of the virtual event will also include a short, private performance from Gary Barlow, Music Director of The 710 Club on board Iona, a few words from P&O Cruises president, Paul Ludlow, as well as appearances from several other special guests.
