The Municipality Of Genoa And Costa Crociere Foundation Celebrate The Opening Of The “Comminity House 13D Certosa” In Genoa

Costa Cruises (Logo)The new Community House 13D Certosa in Genoa, a project created with the synergic commitment of the Municipality of Genoa and Costa Crociere Foundation to support one of the areas of the city most affected by the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, was inaugurated today, December 9, 2020.

The Community House Certosa 13D is a space conceived and designed to harmonize with the surrounding neighborhood, and inclusiveness is its main distinctive value. Indeed, through an innovative collaborative process promoted by the Costa Crociere Foundation, and enabled by the coordination of the V Town Hall, the institutional entities and the main associations operating in the neighborhood have shared vision, purpose and activities to which this new space is destined. Therefore, the community house is founded on the real needs expressed by the local community, and provides skills, spaces, tools and resources for the people.

The building provides support and assistance to the territory, with the aim of offering a gathering space for both associations, individual citizens and groups wishing to promote new initiatives. The Community House also represents a welcoming and inclusive place, especially for young people, with the possibility of organizing after-school and sociality-oriented activities, for families and the elderly. There is also a co-working space for young entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The center, with an area of 530m2, is located on the second floor of a building owned by the Municipality, located in Via Certosa 13-D (after which it is named, chosen by the associations during the collaborative process), a few steps from the subway station of Brin. The renovation project, curated by Architect Antonella Pugno, was supported by an investment of more than 550 thousand euros by the Costa Crociere Foundation, thanks also to the “Insieme per Genova” fundraiser, which involved all of Costa Crociere’s main stakeholders: guests on board, travel agencies, suppliers and employees.

The Company also contributed directly to the fundraising by donating 1 euro for all reservations made from August to November 2018, and for all “trofie al pesto” dishes served on board during the same period.
