A Coruña to host the Cruise Excellence Awards Ceremony 2020

On February 13, A Coruña will be hosting the Gala of Cruise Excellence Awards celebrated since 2008 by “Cruises News Media Group”, who also organise the International Cruise Summit in Madrid and publish the magazine CruisesNews.

The Port of A Coruña has dramatically expanded its passenger traffic and large ship cruise calls during the last ten years, in addition to attracting new cruise companies. In 2020 it has more than 100 cruise calls scheduled, achieving the highest traffic level on the Cantabrian-Atlantic seaboard with about 200,000 passengers anticipated.

The cruise industry is in a period of exponential growth with increasing order books and 112 new ships which will have entered service by 2027. This is a booming industry in the tourism sector generating a revenue of more than 1.48 billion euros in Spain.

The Cruises News Media Group Excellence Cruise Awards are awards obtained by the different companies in the industry based on the votes given by cruise passengers in the following categories:

The ceremony will bring together the top executives of cruise line companies, cruise ship operators, shipping agents, ports and destinations, travel agents, press, collaborators, professionals and business managers of A Coruña and other suppliers in the cruise sector.

Guests will fill the Rosalía de Castro Theater and enjoy a unique gala night, followed by a cocktail-dinner in Palexco to celebrate the awards, whose previous editions were held in Cartagena, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca.
