Margaret Atwood has travelled with Adventure Canada numerous times since 2001 as a staff member and special guestSpringtime on Canada’s east coast is a time of bloom and bounty. We invite you to explore Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Saint-Pierre—expedition style. Margaret Atwood has travelled with Adventure Canada numerous times since 2001 as a staff member and special guest.

Our trips have even, at times, provided inspiration for her work, including The Stone Mattress in 2011. We are very excited to welcome Margaret back as a special guest on our 2020 Atlantic Explorer voyage. Together we will visit the wild horses of Sable Island, Newfoundland’s remote south coast, and the tides of the Bay of Fundy.

Margaret will give a special presentation on The Testaments that talks about the connection between her new novel and some of the places where we will be. In the last few chapters of The Testaments, our two young narrators spend some time in the Bay of Fundy and arrive at Campobello Island.

Margaret Atwood is an internationally acclaimed author and two-time Booker Prize-winner. She was recently named a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour by Queen Elizabeth for her contributions to literature.

Centuries of overlapping culture—Mi’kmaw, Maliseet, Passamaquoaddy, Acadian, English, Scottish, Irish, and French—have left their mark on the landscapes here.

With expedition stops in Newfoundland, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia’s south coast, and the Fundy Isles, every stop is a highlight.
